Barnard, Athey lead All-CCAL Team as Players-of-the-Year

The Carroll County Times posted the football All-County selections for the Fall 2021 season, and South Carroll is proud to have 8 first-team representatives, as well as 8 who earned second-team honors.

QB Ryan Barnard & ILB Brandon Athey were selected as Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year respectively, for their performances throughout a season that saw the Cavaliers compete for a state title after posting an undefeated regular season.

Ryan Barnard finished the year completing 124 of 205 passes for 1,814 yards and 16 touchdowns, while also rushing 81 times for 553 yards and an additional 10 scores.

Brandon Athey finished the year as Carroll County’s leader in both tackles (143) and sacks (13).

In addition to Barnard and Athey, the Cavs had the following players earn first-team recognition: AJ Rodrigues (Jr, RB); Sean Patrick (Sr, OT & DE); Ben Simmens (Jr, OL); Jackson Moore (Sr, DE); Logan Miller (Sr, DB); and Noah Strzelczyk (Sr, OLB).

On the second team, the Cavs had the following players recognized: Lance Crown (Sr, OL); Jake Hilderbrand (Sr, OL); Logan Miller (Sr, WR); Ben Simmens (Jr, DL); Jake Shaw (Sr, ILB); Nate Boore (Jr, OLB); AJ Rodrigues (Jr, DB); and Carter Mazalewski (Jr, DB).
