Cavaliers in the Community

Carroll County Out of the Darkness Walk – Despite the rain, the delays, the stops-and-starts and game reschedulings during the second week of the season, we still made time to go and be a part of the Out of the Darkness walk on September 8th. For anyone interested, donations are still being accepted (through 12/31) here: https://afsp.donordrive.com/participant/1682805

The Out of the Darkness Walks help raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” - Jon Watson

Sports and athletes have a magnetic hold on the public, and the opportunities for sports to move the needle on social issues are enormous. At South Carroll, we are committed to push our players to be a more powerful presence in the community to make differences, small or large. Please join us in considering a donation or participation in an event that we believe helps to shed light on ongoing tragedy. Again, donations can be made through December 31st of this year: https://afsp.donordrive.com/participant/1682805

“Each year, suicide claims more lives than war, murder, and natural disasters combined. Yet suicide prevention doesn’t receive anywhere near the funding as other leading causes of death. It’s up to Walkers like us to make a difference. Together we can change the conversation about mental health and put a stop to this tragic loss of life.”
